Sound and how it can be used in film...

When we make our thriller films something we have to be careful with is sound and using different kinds in our thrillers to convey certain emotions. If we have a sad scene we will need to use music that matches the scene to keep with the theme and create atmosphere.

If we use music that doesn't match the feel of the scene it will feel very strange to watch. For example if we have a sad scene where someone has been killed and then play a really cheery song over the top of it changes the feel of the scene. The viewer no longer feels sad they either feel cheery when they shouldn't be or feel uncomfortable because there's a really happy song being played during a scene that should not be happy.

Here I have taken a sad scene from BBC Sherlock and played different songs over the top to show what I mean. Some of them look and sound completely ridiculous but that just shows you my point.
